Dr. Grish Mohan Gupta is a visionary scientist, Innovator, MSME Entrepreneur and a Philanthropist, whose life has been dedicated for serving India through innovations, entrepreneurship and social welfare. With over 65 years of innovation and industrial experience is a pioneer in India’s MSME sector, demonstrating how small and medium enterprises can drive technological self-reliance, national security, and economic growth.
In 1983, Dr. Gupta returned to India after gaining international experience in USA and founded Global Engineers Limited, a FLAGSHIP MSME committed to indigenous technology development for defence, nuclear, and industrial automation. Under his leadership, the company achieved several national milestones, including high-security border fencing , fully automatic painting plants for railways, aircraft and indigenization of ammunition Explosives and propellants, saving millions in foreign exchange, generating over 1,200 jobs and significantly contributing to India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat mission.
Beyond industry, Dr. Gupta dedicates himself to social welfare . He promotes sustainable agriculture through Solar Greenhouses, supports women’s education, helps underprivileged families with marriage assistance advocates mental health awareness and runs a free homeopathy clinic in Delhi for over 20 years.
Through his pioneering work in ‘MSMEs and social initiatives’, Dr. Gupta exemplifies how entrepreneurship can serve the nation, blending innovation, patriotism, and compassion. Born in 1941 in pre-independence India, Dr. Gupta demonstrated exceptional aptitude for engineering from an early age. His academic journey culminated in a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, followed by an MBA from IIM Sambalpur at the age of 84, combining technical mastery with business leadership.
Born in a small village Dibai, Distt. Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Gupta's childhood during India's independence movement instilled in him a deep sense of patriotism and commitment to nation-building. His early fascination with machinery and problem-solving marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey.
Completed his doctoral studies with distinction, specializing in advanced mechanical systems. His research laid the groundwork for future innovations in defense and industrial applications.
Recognizing the need to combine technical expertise with business acumen, Dr. Gupta pursued management education, developing the unique skill set that would define his approach to industrial leadership.
Dr. Gupta's career spans six decades of groundbreaking contributions to India's defense, railways, and nuclear energy sectors and import substitution. His return from the United States in 1983 after surrending the precious Green Card marked the beginning of extraordinary nation-building.
Left promising opportunities abroad to establish Global Engineers Ltd. in India, creating an MSME that would become a national asset in strategic sectors. The company initially focused on defense technologies and border security solutions.
Developed the indigenous Punched Tape Concertina Coil in 1985 to secure India's borders, particularly along the Punjab-Pakistan frontier. This innovation significantly enhanced national security and continues to protect India's territorial integrity.
In 2005, revolutionized Indian Railways with the Automatic Coach Painting Plant, eliminating health hazards for workers and modernized 28 workshops across India's vast railway network. This innovation saved countless lives and improved efficiency. The technology was further adopted for painting Helicopter and Air Craft at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)
In 2010, achieved a breakthrough in 'Make in India' defense manufacturing by co-opting with foreign technology partners and established a number of explosives and propellants manufacturing plants at various Ordnance factory for filling cartridge cases of small caliber , medium caliber, and large caliber including BOFORS Gun. At Ordnance Factories that saved massive foreign exchange while strengthening indigenous capabilities.
Dr. Gupta's innovations have strengthened India's defense capabilities, industrial base, and technological self-reliance across multiple sectors.
Developed multiple critical defense technologies including propellants manufacturer for various calibers including BOFORS Gun.
Border security systems by establishing manufacturing facilities of Punched Tape Concertina Coils .
Import substitution of several technology plants and equipment at various Ordnance Factories thereby saving over 1,500+ Crores in Foreign Exchange and Continuing
Played pivotal role in Fast Breeder Nuclear Reactor Pilot Plant at BARC, achieving complete technological independence in this strategic sector without foreign assistance.
Currently establishing indigenous facility on 166 hectares to produce Explosives & Rocket Propellants, contributing to India's self-reliance in defense manufacturing under the UPEIDA initiative.

Developed innovative technology increasing crop yield fivefold while generating electricity, implemented as philanthropy to support Indian farmers. Patent filed in 2017.
Healthcare (2000-Present)
Runs free Homeopathy Clinic in Delhi's Shalimar Bagh for 20+ years. Trustee of Brain Behaviour Research Foundation since 2010, supporting mental health research.
Women Empowerment (2008-Present)
Provides scholarships at IIM Sambalpur since 2008. Established marriage fund for underprivileged girls in 2012, supporting 50+ marriages to date.
