Dr. Grish Mohan Gupta, 84-year-old as on 9th April 2025, visionary and innovator, has devoted his entire life to driving India’s growth through groundbreaking ideas and transformative initiatives
Dr. Grish Mohan Gupta Holds a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Masters in Mechanical Engineering, PhD and MBA from IIM Sambalpur. With 65+ years of rich experience as MSME & has established saveral turnkey projects for ordnance factories, Nuclear Power Plants, Indian Railways & High Security Fencing for safe guarding Indian Borders with Pakistan at Punjab, Rajasthan, J&K & Bangladesh, Nepal . His expertise makes him a great MSME , a national treasure & torch bearer of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
He has also received the prestigious CII Industrial Innovation Award and multiple recognitions for his contributions to defence, nuclear technology, and industrial automation. His name is listed in the Golden Book of World Records, with a Guinness World Record entry in process.
After achieving professional success in the United States, Dr. Grish Mohan Gupta made a life-changing decision in 1983—he surrendered his U.S. Green Card and returned to his motherland, India. While working as Vice President (Energy Conservation) at Pittsburgh Steel Inc., USA, he gained global exposure and financial stability. Yet, his heart remained committed to the vision of serving India through indigenous technology, defence preparedness, and industrial self-reliance.
The memories of India’s struggles during the 1962, 1965, and 1971 wars deeply impacted him. Witnessing the country’s heavy dependence on foreign imports of arms and ammunition, Dr. Gupta resolved to dedicate his knowledge and resources towards import substitution, employment generation, and strengthening national security.
On his return, he founded Global Engineers Ltd. (formerly known as Global Engineers) in 1983, a Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise (MSME) with a mission to design and manufacture indigenous defence and industrial technologies. Under his leadership, the company pioneered several breakthrough innovations, including high-security fencing for border defence , rural telecommunication by developing a mobile tele-exchange in a bus body, fully automatic painting plants for railway coaches , contributed in the development of prototype fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam & established turnkey facilities for the production of explosives and propellants required for the production of various sizes of ammunitions including BOFORS Gun at various ordnance factories. And now developing simulators for the training of Railway drivers. directly contributing to India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat movement decades before it became a National mission.
Dr. Gupta’s return stands as a shining example of patriotism, sacrifice, and visionary entrepreneurship, proving that true success lies not only in personal achievement but in uplifting one’s nation.
Dr. Gupta & his Company has earned 21 National-Interntational awards including 2 conferred by the Hon'ble President of India & 2 International awards. In addition Dr. Gupta and his company has made Seven innovations.
Recognised as one of the top innovators of India by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) & conferred Industrial Innovation Awards in the year 2022.
These accoladed established him as a torchbearer of Atmanirbhar Bharat, blending innovation, industry, and social responsibility.

In early 80s. Pakistan was sending Sikh terrorists into India through Punjab Border. Govt. of India was considering to fence the border. Dr. Grish Mohan Gupta was working in US holding a green card but his heart was for the Mother Land and decided to return to India to fence the border with the latest high security fencing, which was only available to Pentagon and NATO countries . Dr. Gupta returned to India and re-developed this fencing known as Punched Tape Concertina Coil and fenced the Punjab Border which stopped Sikh terrorism and later same fencing was installed on Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bangladesh and J&K borders with Pakistan. For this extra ordinary achievement President of India conferred National Award upon him.
In early 80s the villages of India were not connected by telecommunication. Government of India decided to set up small telephone exchanges to cover group of villages. Under the vision of Dr. Grish Mohan Gupta, Global Engineers Limited built small telephone exchanges in a bus body and setup such exchanges in several villages of India, thereby improving the rural communication in India .
Developed Automatic Painting Plants for Railway Coaches that prevented premature deaths of painters carrying out manual spray painting and automated 28 railway workshops.
Later, the same facility was modified for painting Air Crafts and Helicopters at HAL which significantly improved safety of workers and efficiency of painting.
Indigenized & Installed a substantial part of explosives & propellants manufacturing at various Ordnance factories, essentially required for the production of ammunitions including BOFORS Gun, under 'Make in India', achieving massive Forex savings and strengthening indigenous capability.
Nitro-Cellulose Manufacturing Facility at Ordnance Factory Nalanda, Bihar, India
BHABHA Atomic Research Centre designed a prototype Fast Breeder Reactor of 25MW and invited Indian industry to develop, manufacture and install at NPCIL Kalpakkam ( Tamil Nadu ). Larsen and Toubro was short listed to manufacture and install core assembly and Global Engineers Limited was short listed for Sodium Cooling System. Global Engineers successfully manufactured & installed the same at Kalpakkam and this prototype plant is successfully working for the last 14 years. The Plant uses Thorium as fuel in place of Uranium. India has worlds largest (42%) deposits of Thorium . Government Of India is planning to setup five 220MW plants at various places in India.
Global Engineers Limited, under CSR initiatives through Centres of Excellence for Advance Research Presided by Dr. Gupta, has developed a unique green house whose prodcutivity of fruits and vegetables vary from 5 to 8 times compared to open field and in addition generates solar electricity on an average four hundred units of electricity per day per acre. This green house is installed in a Farm in New Delhi . The data of the green house was analysed by a renowned scientist of I.A.R.I Pusha New Delhi & certified . This green house is under patent and purely a philanthropic activity. Dr. Gupta plans to adopt district by district and increase the income of marginal farmers in order to support the mission of our Hon'ble Prime Minister.
The Company has developed independent facility to manufacture simulators to Train Railway Drivers, Air Craft Drivers, Battle Field Tank Operators etc.
Dr. Grish Mohan Gupta Left opportunities in USA by surrendering precious Green Card & returned to Mother Land to serve the nation & established Global Engineers Ltd.
Developed Punched Tape Concertina Coil to initially seal Punjab-Pakistan border to eliminate Sikh Terrorism, and later other Borders of India with Bangladesh & Pakistan including J&K
In 1980s villages of India were not connected by tele communication. Govt. of India decided to connect the Rural India with the help of Mobile Telephone Exchanges and ITI Mankapur was given the responsibility. In turn, they selected Global Engineers ( Prop. Dr. Grish Mohan Gupta ) to Innovate and manufacture these exchanges in a bus body, so that they could be easily installed in rural areas to connect bunch of near by villages. Global Engineers very successfully manufactured and supplied several such exchanges.
. Innovated Automatic Coach Painting Plants saving lives of painters who were working with manual spray painting. These plant are installed in 22 railway workshops and continuing.
. Subsequently, Innovated Automatic Paintng Plant for Helicopters & Air Crafts at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited ( HAL )
. Indigenized under 'Make in India' considerable part of Explosives and Propellants manufacturing plants, such as nitro cellulose, Pure Lead Azide essentially required for ammunition production including BOFORS Gun .
. Imports substitution of old imported plants and equipment at various Ordnance factories of India
Under "ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT" a Flagship Scheme of Govt. of India.
Global Engineers Ltd. , under chairmanship of Dr. Grish Mohan Gupta with a leading European technology partner, signed a contract with Ministry of Defence to deliver a turnkey project was spread over 25 Hectare of land at Ordnance Factory Bhandara Nagpur. The project has substantial portion of work being executed by Global Engineers Ltd. and is in advance stage of completion. Upon completion, it will produce 65 tons of Single Base Propellants, and will stop imports and reliance on Russia.
The Govt. of Uttar Pradesh has alloted 166 hectare of land to Global Engineers Ltd. to establish indigenous facilities to produce Explosives & Rocket Propellants.
